Research Rapid Fire - Does Stretching Work To Prevent Injuries?

05/04/2019

This may be 😳 news 😳 to some and confirmation to others, but there are better uses of your time than stretching to prevent injuries according to a paper by Lauerson (2014).

In a study of 26,610 participants with 3464 injuries, the data DID NOT support the use of stretching for injury prevention purposes.

They concluded that strength training reduced sports injuries to less than 1/3 and overuse injuries by almost half.

Proprioception (more on this to come but what we utilize in our True Coach program essentially) also showed favorable results. Consistently favorable results were shown for all injury prevention methods except for stretching.

Read that again.

Strength training for the win!
